LTR063Blair / HuberPRISM BREAK2026
Following their debut EP ‘IN A NEW ORDER’, Blair / Huber return with ‘PRISM BREAK’, a striking new single that subtly expands the boundaries of the duo’s minimalist sound. Featuring acclaimed German drummer Noah Fürbringer (Moses Yoofee Trio, Peter Fox, Petter Eldh), whose recent Deutscher Jazzpreis win with Moses Yoofee Trio reflects the momentum surrounding Germany’s flourishing new jazz generation, the track marks a natural evolution for the Frankfurt-based pair.
Formed by saxophonist Darius Blair and guitarist Niko Huber, Blair / Huber have built their identity around space, restraint and an intuitive interplay between melody and texture. Recorded at Funkhaus Berlin, ‘PRISM BREAK’ preserves the warmth and openness that define the duo’s music, while introducing a new rhythmic energy with Noah Fürbringer’s drums. “’PRISM BREAK’ was the only song we’d written so far that really called for drums,” the band explains. “We had the opportunity to work with Noah, and it was the perfect fit.”
Built around layered rhythmic cells and shifting harmonic structures, the track allows its melody to continuously change colour and perspective, the inspiration behind its title. “It lets the melody shine in a lot of different colours this way, that’s where the thought of a prism came to us.”
The result is one of Blair / Huber’s most dynamically and rhythmically intricate recordings to date, expanding the duo’s sound while remaining closely connected to its core. “It kind of breaks the perspective of our own writing,” they say, “but you can still trace it back to its roots.” With ‘PRISM BREAK,’ Blair / Huber lay a strong foundation for their upcoming debut album, due later this summer via LEITER.
