    Holland Andrews

‘Wordless’ is the premiere release of American composer and performer Holland Andrews. The four-track EP offers deeply-layered catharsis through an array of arpeggiated and glitched-out electronics, vocal and clarinet-driven compositions. It is the soundtrack to closing your eyes and imagining all of your favorite colors in a sunset while unable to leave your home for weeks. It is walking blindly into the unknown, finding infinite bliss in the moment as it arrives. Among the almost 20 minutes of music are the cleansing genre-bending Avant-classical waves in the title track ‘Wordless’, as well as a woven interplay between devotional sweeping vocal rhythms and electronics found on the single ‘Mouthful’.

Frequently highlighting themes surrounding vulnerability and healing, Holland Andrews arranges music for voice, clarinet, and electronics. As a vocalist, their influences stem from a dynamic range including contemporary opera, theater, and jazz, while cultivating their own unique vocal style, integrating these influences with language disintegration and vocal distortion. Andrews also develops and performs soundscapes for dance, theater, and film. Their work is toured internationally with artists such as Bill T. Jones, Dorothee Munyaneza, Will Rawls, and poet Demian Dinéyazhi. Notable musical collaborations include William Brittelle, Son Lux, Christina Vantzou, Peter Broderick, and Methods Body.

‘Wordless’ was first released in February 2021; LEITER re-issued the EP in a remastered version available on all digital platforms. This release is the first in a row of four EPs in collaboration with LEITER.
